Mallard
This is a male Mallard, the female Mallard is a streaky sandy brown color. Basically you can find them all over the USA. When you hear them quacking it is usually the female, the male’s song is softer and reedier. They feed on the surface of water or by “tipping up” to reach down to the bottom of the pond. I have seen them eating seed under bird feeders such as this one. If you feed them once, they will remember and continue to come back over and over again.
