They have extremely long, thin legs. This shorebird gets to wade in deeper water than most, where they eat small invertebrates off the surface. They’ve also been know to just stand and catch a flying insect as it goes by… Very delicate looking, but actually this bird manages to thrive in very hot climates and quickly takes advantage of artificial habitats such as sewage ponds.
