In The Deserts Of The US You Can Find The Cactus Wren

Cactus Wren

These birds are common in the deserts in the southwest USA. They are big and bold with a harsh rasping voice. Pairs stay together throughout the year and may even mate for life! Build nests in cactus and some adults have been know to puncture eggs of other birds that have nests nearby… These birds are very curious and adaptable. They forage on the ground often using their bills to lift leaves and small rocks to find food underneath. If you need the bugs on the front end of your car cleaned off, the Cactus Wren is the bird for you, they will pick off the smashed insects for a quick yummy meal!
