Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

These beautiful birds will forage mostly by watching from a perch, then they’ll fly out and catch insects, returning back to the perch to eat. The Scissor-tailed is closely related to the kingbirds, and like them they will also attack larger birds that come anywhere near their nests! Often found perched on wires and fences, you might think its just a Mockingbird, but then it flies up and you’ll see the salmon-pink on its sides and under the wing. I found this one in Texas, USA, there were a few of them in  the area and it was truly a sight to see them flying around with their long tails!
