Common Gallinule
You can find this chickenlike, semiaquatic bird around vegetated shores and freshwater ponds, marshes and lakes. Whenever I’m birding around a marsh I can hear them clucking or squawking to each other, sometimes the reeds are so thick I never see the Gallinule at all. On the occasion that I do see them, they will swim around pumping their head, almost like its helping them to swim. Their bill always reminds me of candy corn, what do you think?
