I saw some Brown Pelicans hanging out near a water inlet pipe. They were putting their heads under the water, filling their pouches up with fish and water. Then they hang their head down letting the water drain out of the pouch until the fish is the only thing left… time to eat!
This is the lazy pelican way of eating! I’ve seen them dive from up to 60 feet above the water into a school of fish over and over again.
This is an adult Brown Pelican. They can be found on both coasts of the US and into Mexico.
