Birding in the Wildlife Refuge is my Escape From the Crazy Real World!

Birding in the Wildlife Refuge is my Escape From the Crazy Real World!

Today was a beautiful sunny warm day, so we got up early and drove to the wildlife refuge. It has been a great place to escape from all the bad stuff happening around the world!

I can go there and not see anyone and the only sounds I hear are the bird singing…

I can let my mind just focus on trying to figure out which bird is singing and where it might be hiding in the leaves.

We pack a picnic lunch and stay out as long as I can hold my pee!!!!! Anyway we only saw a couple of cars today. Everyone stays far away from everyone else. If we see someone is parked at a trail, we drive to another one and other people will do the same…

Anyway, today was a good day. I did get a couple of birds that I will tell you about in another post, but I did want to show you a couple of photos that I did get.

I found a nest with 4 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers in it! Both the male and female build the nest, using a lot of materials to camouflage it. Notice all the lichen that they used to make it blend in to the branches around it.

Time for dinner!

Stay healthy and safe!!!
